Please Note: these techniques are performed in basic form for the purposes of the video tutorials. Not all points will be covered in every video and each individual student will need instruction in the dojo during normal class sessions.
These videos attempt to cover the most fundamental points (which apply to both adults and juniors).
Posture and Kihon Dosa are the foundations of Tenchi Ryu Aikido and they should be evident throughout all stages of a technique – not just at the start and finish. By establishing strong basics you will be able to adopt the correct stance without hesitation – and without thinking. This means you will become sharper and more intuitive when you practice your techniques.
Standing in posture will feel odd at first – unnatural — but your job is to practice it until it feels completely natural.
RENZOKU DOSA
Renzoku dosa combines two elements of Kihon Dosa into one flowing movement. It is normally practiced with a partner where Tori learns to move quickly and on balance and Uke gets breakfall practice.
TORI: the one practicing the technique – UKE: the one receiving the technique.
