Tenchi Ryu was founded in 1994 by Senseis Brian Stockwell and Graham Batchelor. Sensei Batchelor passed away in 2010 and since then the Association has been headed solely by Sensei Stockwell 7th Dan
Tenchi Ryu Aikido’s syllabus is firmly rooted in the Yoshinkan style of aikido (developed by Gozo Shioda who was a direct student of O’Sensei). However, over the years the Tenchi Ryu “style” has developed to include and embrace other styles, in our view making a more rounded and effective set of technical skills.
Tenchi Ryu is registered as a Community Amateur Sports Club which means we operate on a ‘not for profit’ basis and we now have our HQ at a permanent dojo in Barnstaple North Devon
Practising aikido means that you become part of a family, and the aikido dojo is a fantastic way to meet new people and make friends whilst learning this great martial art. We hope to see you on the mat soon!
